Ruiz Soto

Antonio Ruiz Soto was born in Elche, Alicante, on 9 June 2002. He completed his professional degree in 2020 at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música «Guitarrista José Tomás» in Alicante with César Martín, graduating with the Extraordinary Prize of his year.

Between 2020 and 2024 he studied for his bachelor's degree at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona and at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, with Xavier Castillo, Josep Fuster and Annelien Van Wauwe. He went on to complete a Master of Music Performance at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with Annelien van Wauwe, Davide Lattuada and Jasper Grijpink, and is currently completing a second Master of Music Performance at the Hochschule für Musik Basel with François Benda.

He was a titular member of the JONC, Catalonia's Youth National Orchestra, and a member of the Neues Orchester Basel Academy. He has been invited by the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès and the Banda Simfònica de Barcelona, and has played with the Orquesta Sinfónica Ciudad de Elche and with the Residentie Orkest in The Hague.

His orchestral work in Barcelona includes Magnus Lindberg's Kraft and Ligeti's Lontano with the Gran Conjunt Simfònic of the ESMUC at MUHBA Oliva Artés, and programmes by Bernstein, Marc Migó, Respighi and Salvador Brotons at L'Auditori's Sala Pau Casals. He gave his final bachelor recital at Studio 1, Amare, in The Hague, with works by Béla Kovács, François Devienne, Jean Françaix and Mozart.

He has worked with Yehuda Gilad across six editions of the International Clarinet Seminar in Murcia, and in masterclasses with Martin Fröst, Hermann Stefansson, Olli Leppäniemi and Laura Ruiz Ferreres at the Framnäs Spring Course, with José Franch Ballester at the Curso de Clarinete Villa de Canena, with Mate Bekavac in Duino and with François Benda at the Universität der Künste Berlin.
